Eating Disorders

Eating disorders come in a variety of symptoms and presentations. Counseling is available for Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED), and Body Dysmorphia.

We will work on improving your relationship with food and body through an anti-diet, Health at Every Size™, and Intuitive Eating™ framework and therapeutic modalities such as CBT, DBT, and EMDR.

EMDR for Trauma Recovery

I approach treating trauma by asking “what happened to you?” instead of “what’s wrong with you?” Each of us have experiences that shaped us, some for better or for worse. I’m here to support you in working through those negative experiences with unconditional positive regard and an open ear to how your trauma has impacted you in all kinds of ways. I empower my clients through choice and want to ensure you feel like you have agency in your treatment experience.

EMDR is an evidenced based therapeutic modality for trauma recovery and PTSD. I have experience using EMDR for issues such as eating disorders, sexual trauma, burn survivors, childhood abuse, car accidents, body image, depression, anxiety, and self harm.

Dissociative Disorders

Dissociative disorders are those in which the person experiences a sense of depersonalization and/or derealization in a way that interferes with daily functioning. They include difficulties with memory, identity, emotion, perception, behavior and sense of self. These symptoms are often results of trauma and are therefore important to be treated in a trauma informed manner.

I treat dissociative concerns through a “parts work” lens which honors and explores each of the internal parts of a system. We often set goals of working towards improvement on internal collaboration and communication between parts. I work with dissociation across the spectrum including structural dissociation diagnoses such as DID and OSDD.

The International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation provides thorough information and a variety of resources about dissociation.
